The Sri Lanka Tea Board, with the assistance of the Sri Lanka Embassy in Japan, showcased ‘Ceylon Tea’ at the 48th International Food and Beverage Exhibition FOODEX 2023 in Tokyo, which is the leading food and beverage tradeshow in Asia. 

The event had over 2,300 food and beverages-related stalls and attracted close to 100,000 visitors this year. 

Ambassador E. Rodney M. Perera declared open the Sri Lanka pavilion with invited guests that included Stassen Japan Ltd. President Kaz Kawasaki. Eight Ceylon tea exporters, namely, Jafferjee Brothers, Thalawakale Tea Estate PLC, Stassen Exports Ltd., Ranfur Tea Ltd./Ceythe Japan Ltd., Jafferjee Brothers, Tea House Ltd., Origin Tea Exports Ltd., Master Tea and Spices Ltd. and Ceylon Artisanal Tea Association. The attractive Sri Lanka Tea Board pavilion showcased a variety of tea products that is now getting more exposure in the Japanese market. 

All exhibitors had the opportunity to make interactive presentations of their products while engaging in numerous business meetings with the large number of visitors to the Sri Lanka pavilion. The exhibitors were highly satisfied with the 600+ firm inquiries received from prospective buyers, retailers, supermarkets, department stores, and distributors during the four days of the exhibition.
