As part of its objective to support and facilitate commerce and trade between Sri Lanka and Europe, the European Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (ECCSL) has entered into a partnership with the largest regional chamber in the UK, the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce (GMCC).
The ECCSL and GMCC arranged an online event to launch the partnership on 28 June. After the welcoming notes from Mr. Clive Memmott, CEO of the GMCC and Mr. Arnold Perera, President of the ECCSL, the CEO and President both signed the official Partnership Agreement.
After the online signing ceremony, the GMCC made an interesting and informative presentation on business between Sri Lanka and the UK, in particular the Manchester area, highlighting the region’s business and commercial strengths. The ECCSL presentation to the GMCC emphasized the current trade between Sri Lanka and UK, the main opportunities to increase trade and the key investment opportunities in Sri Lanka.
The event included two rounds of B2B virtual networking, where participating companies in Manchester and in Sri Lanka had the opportunity to introduce themselves and their business and to share contact details for potential corporation.
The partnership between the GMCC and the ECCSL provides for the two chambers to share business leads, connection opportunities and for members of either chamber to avail of the other chamber’s services at preferential rates and terms. As the largest Chamber of Commerce in Sri Lanka’s second-largest trading partner, the GMCC provides an excellent opportunity for Sri Lankan companies to develop contacts and channels into the UK market and as a source of potential investment into Sri Lanka. By developing partnerships such as this, the ECCSL continues to demonstrate its commitment and capability to growing trade and commerce between Sri Lankan and Europe.
